ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Displaying an impressive blend of elegance, rustic charm and inviting simplicity, this stunning 12,000-square-foot mountain home is powered by the best of custom integration, resulting in effortless convenience, entertainment, comfort and peace of mind. Over 100 Lutron lighting scenes deliver customized brightness for every occasion. Surveillance zones are configured to capture footage of the wildlife that can be seen on the grounds daily. A premium audio video experience can be found almost anywhere in the house with the finest that Sony, Samsung, Origin and Savant have to offer. The Savant control system enables flawless, intuitive operation of every system component. In the event of power outages, the RoseWater Energy system automatically supplies continuous power conditioning and includes large scale battery storage. This project demonstrates that focused vision and attention to detail can produce the ultimate integrated technology experience without sacrificing a home’s aesthetic, a hallmark of the Fusion tailored approach. Immaculate design and implementation of décor and technology combine to realize the homeowners’ vision of providing themselves and their guests the ability to enjoy the property on their terms.

CHALLENGE

The Fusion team fully utilized their expertise throughout this project to overcome technology and partner challenges. The homeowners’ unyielding vision for their home automation tested our team’s abilities: they wanted their control system to mimic the system of their existing home, particularly lighting scenes and surveillance. However, during the four-years from project design to finish, the project experienced production delays due to Covid, and Savant and Lutron product and licensing changes necessitated additional training, workarounds and redesigns. Fusion technicians worked tirelessly into late evening hours to program and reprogram over 100 complex lighting scenes and surveillance zones to the client’s exact specifications. Loss of job knowledge, continuity and project notes with an electrician change mid-project was another obstacle. Surveillance changes were requested at the end of the project, with camera moves and additions to fulfill client needs. To accommodate the RoseWater Energy Hub system, the builder faced challenges in retrofitting the home’s structure with fortification to withstand the weight of the unit and ensure adequate space for cleaning around the system; at the installation phase, Fusion and RoseWater technicians partnered together to bring the system into the home piece by piece.

SOLUTION

These clients value continuity, consistency and excellence. Their impeccable, fully-integrated home is a testament to their precise vision and preferences. Every detail of this home was meticulously planned. From a technology standpoint, full integration of surveillance, security, lighting, audio and video through Savant provides unparalleled operational convenience. A Luma X20 series with AI paired with IC Realtime and Visualint cameras ensures that wildlife on the property can always be captured on camera. Music can be enjoyed through Origin speakers and Savant soundbars from the billiard room to the dog park with 22 zones of audio distribution in Savant AVOIP. Personalized lighting scenes with the Lutron QSX system in every room provide specific illumination for spaces within spaces and set the mood for entertaining and relaxation. Samsung Terrace TVs outside and Sony TVs inside are fully distributed with fiber and Savant 10Gb AVOIP, allowing for fast, continuous viewing experiences throughout the home. The RoseWater Energy system enables the property to withstand power outages and surges. Overall, this project exemplifies the homeowners’ commitment to seamless technology that allows enjoyment of their surroundings in the ways that are most important to them, all while maintaining the exquisite aesthetic of their home.

Starry Night Theater

2023 CE Pro Home of the Year Gold Winner, Best Home Theater Between $25K-$100K

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Technology meets luxury and personalization in this beautiful theater. Enhancing the standard theater elements of projector, screen, lighting, sound and seating results in a truly immersive experience. The Sony projector, Screen Innovations screen, Control4 lighting and Bowers & Wilkins audio integrated with Control4 automation provided the essential theater components. After those selections, the homeowners prioritized their budget to deliver features most important to them – a stunning starry night ceiling and premium Octane seating. This theater proves that you can revolutionize a small space for less than six figures without sacrificing aesthetics, convenience, functionality or luxury.

CHALLENGES & COMPROMISES

Because this project was technically a renovation, Fusion thoroughly investigated the room infrastructure before starting to avoid surprises and project interruptions. After gutting the second level space, an electrician brought in needed power, Fusion technicians pre-wired the room and moved the network drops. These initial steps resulted in an overall smooth project that required minimal technological workarounds. Screen Innovations assisted with integration of LED lights into Control4 on the projector screen. Unfortunately, Control4 accessibility was compromised due to the room switch locations, which prohibited the use of a Control4 keypad. The biggest challenges were maintaining aesthetic integrity within the room. Color matching emerged as a consistent theme. From shades, faceplates, to cabinetry and granite, the Fusion team partnered with the contractor to hunt down matching components from several different manufacturers and suppliers. Optimizing the sound of the room was achieved by teamwork with the contractor to move up wall cabinets for speaker positioning. To keep the desired room aesthetic, traditional acoustic panels were installed in the front and front sides of the theater and acoustically transparent movie posters were installed in the back of the room.

PROJECT STAND OUTS

Outstanding clients with a focused vision for their home theater made this an exemplary project. This theater is anything but a sterile space! A combination of cutting-edge technology, ultimate comfort and personal touches produced a room that is now used for entertainment, relaxation and connecting with family and friends. From a technology standpoint, full automation and control through Control4 provides operational convenience, even down to lighting programmed to integrate with theater commands. Bowers & Wilkins speakers paired with custom acoustic panels ensure optimal audio. But the luxury doesn’t stop with technology. Lutron motorized blackout shades and custom Octane theater chairs with recline, massage and heat features ensure a true immersive experience. Twinkle speed and brightness levels of the starry night ceiling can be adjusted with Control4 for an extra wow factor. Film posters that represent the clients’ favorite movies double as acoustic panels. Although having a home with a dedicated theater is impressive in and of itself, the homeowners also utilize the space to unwind with a book or enjoy a few minutes of solitude in their luxurious theater chairs. To top it off, the theater boasts personalized signage and the clients’ favorite movie snacks, making it uniquely their own. experiences throughout the home. The RoseWater Energy system enables the property to withstand power outages and surges. Overall, this project exemplifies the homeowners’ commitment to seamless technology that allows enjoyment of their surroundings in the ways that are most important to them, all while maintaining the exquisite aesthetic of their home.

Fully Integrated Luxury Home

Featured in CE Pro

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This home boasts technology with unparalleled quality and performance throughout. From the Ambisonic outdoor audio system to the McIntosh powered dedicated home theater, enjoying a premium audio video experience can be found in almost every room. These homeowners value convenience and excellence with an appreciation for clean lines and understated technology. Their dedicated home theater is the perfect representation of the clients’ vision and lifestyle – it has everything! A McIntosh system, Bowers & Wilkins speakers, custom Screen Innovations screen, Sony laser projector, floor to ceiling paneling, a customized Gemini constellation ceiling and customized seating combine for the ultimate theater. Although the Fusion team started this project after the home was fully constructed, they accomplished installation and programming of a whole home system despite unforeseen obstacles. This project proves that surpassing client expectations with outstanding, reliable systems is always attainable.

CHALLENGES & COMPROMISES

Undertaking this project mid-construction challenged the Fusion team at every turn. However, flexible clients were key to achieving project deliverables. Without any documentation or schematics on wiring and sheetrock already installed, this project suffered considerable delays. To find speaker installations completed by the contractor, technicians had to tone for each location. Fundamental tasks required significant workarounds. The family room fireplace design dictated an untraditionally high TV mount that involved the use of a mechanical lift and reframing the fireplace to recess the lift. In the theater, rewiring for Atmos layout required reframing studs to install the back boxes for the in-wall and ceiling Bowers & Wilkins speakers. Outside, technicians worked against landscape terrain to bury two subwoofers on an incline to produce the desired audio output. Because the client trusted the Fusion team to cut into their newly constructed home’s sheetrock and slate to accomplish the install, Fusion succeeded in delivering a completed project to client satisfaction.

PROJECT STAND OUTS

This client was committed to excellent quality throughout their home, especially the outdoor AV and home theater. In the theater, combining a full high-end McIntosh surround sound system with Bowers & Wilkins speakers and adding fabric and acoustic panels from floor to ceiling produces an incredible audio experience. The fabric and acoustic panels accentuate the feel of the room along with the customized reclining theater chairs. The Sony laser projector and custom Screen Innovations screen provide outstanding video. However, what truly sets the aesthetic of this theater apart is the custom designed Gemini constellation ceiling, a nod to the homeowners’ twin children. The entire home boasts Control4 automation, integrated with Control4 lighting, the home’s security system, Sony OLED TVs, Origin Acoustic in-ceiling speakers and Sonos Arc soundbars throughout the living spaces and bedrooms. Although overcoming the wiring challenges of this home overshadowed most of this project, achieving the client’s vision in spite of those challenges is a true testament to the Fusion team’s ability to adapt and persevere.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Impeccably designed and curated, this lakefront property was crafted to reflect the homeowners’ passions and hobbies: art, nature, wine, music, entertaining and travel. Although the homeowners sought state-of the-art technology, their desire was to keep the eye focused on their elegantly designed home interior. Executing their vision through collaboration and teamwork with the builder, interior design firm, and cabinet maker along with the project electricians and carpenters to overcome architectural challenges and design revisions was the true highlight of this project. The result is stunning: an effortless audio video experience that includes invisible in-ceiling speakers throughout their main floor, hidden, customized TV lifts, sophisticated equipment cabinets, custom TV mirrors, motorized shades, an extensive security system, home automation and more. All of this technology is simply and intuitively accessible through the Elan home control system. We’ll toast to the homeowner’s flawless vision after we press the champagne button, announcing the need for bubbly throughout the pool bar and cabana.

CHALLENGES & COMPROMISES

Providing seamless interaction through technology while maintaining aesthetic integrity governed this project. Significant architectural challenges coupled with several rounds of design revisions required Fusion to creatively execute solutions delivering state-of-the-art technology without sacrificing the client’s specific vision for their home. A significant obstacle Fusion encountered in several iterations was to disguise technology, which required coordination with multiple parties. In the dining room, Fusion was asked to install invisible speakers behind a wood ceiling that was too thick for audio to pass through. Through collaboration with the builder and carpenter, the wood was shaved down considerably, resulting in clear audio. The master suite held unique design challenges, including installing a hidden Nexus TV lift in a custom built trunk as well as providing custom TV mirrors in the master bath, each of which was accomplished by working with interior designers, a custom cabinetry expert and electrician. Another substantial roadblock was the installation of the 360⁰ rotating Auton TV lift for the cabana and pool areas. After a year of extensive planning with the builder and carpenter, the lift was damaged by a subcontractor at the end of the installation process, and required removal, repair and re-installation before it was operational.

PROJECT STAND OUTS

Massive amounts of teamwork, collaboration and communication between partners during the execution of this project made it exceptional. From a technical standpoint, Fusion installed one of the first 98” Sony TVs to hit the American market, accompanied by Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 surround sound and powered by a McIntosh amplifier and processor in the client’s family room. Also tied into the family room’s audio equipment is a dual microphone karaoke system and a PAR Z Move RGBW programmed to synchronize with the music. McIntosh amplifiers power the whole house audio system, with invisible speakers on the main floor and 10” in-ceiling speakers mixed with subwoofers throughout the remainder of the home. The home boasts a video distribution system that routes 10 sources to 16 displays using Crestron NVX integrated with the Elan control system. Lutron QS lighting control and motorized shades were also integrated and automated through the Elan control system. Anticipating potential client needs for future technology during the pre-wire phase was another key component to this project due to interior stonework that would prohibit running wire after installation. Overall, Fusion successfully executed the client’s vision for seamlessly integrated technology in every part of their home without compromising their aesthetic.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This long-term service client contacted Fusion for a system design for a 100-acre property in Woodruff, South Carolina. They wanted a home automation system that included smart home security, lighting, pool and spa, climate control and everything in between. The solution needed to be high-tech but also simple to learn and use on a daily basis.

CHALLENGE

Fusion was tasked with completely integrating “everything you could possibly imagine” including security, lighting control, indoor and outdoor sound system, door locks, TVs, pool climate, garage doors, Wi-Fi and access control for this client’s main house, pool house, guest house and outdoor living spaces. The home posed a unique ceiling structure that was layered instead of a flat surface, requiring creativity to install and position speakers.

PROJECT STAND OUTS

Fusion worked closely with both the builder and the homeowner to engineer and design a system to meet the unique needs of the home and the client. Using a full Savant system, every sub system on the property can be controlled via touch screen interface, handheld remote or mobile app.

A high-quality security system includes eight cameras, remote door locking capabilities, and garage doors to provide peace of mind. We implemented a Lutron lighting control system in the main property, pool house and landscaping. The system includes elegant Lutron keypads in each room.

For video distribution to the ten televisions on the property, Fusion used a Savant 4K video distribution system. We added angled speakers to work with the unique ceiling structure in the home theater, guest room, and great room. Each speaker was painted to match the surrounding wall or ceiling to create a more seamless design for the project.

The marquee entertainment system is a ‘man cave’ downstairs. This ‘man cave’ serves as a multi-purpose room with a pool table and bar, 85” Sony TV, Bowers & Wilkins surround sound speakers, and McIntosh and Rotel AV equipment.

The client’s outdoor living space features a 65” SunbriteTV Signature Series 4K TV along with a soundbar. Meanwhile, the pool is surrounded with an Origin Acoustics landscape system and two buried subwoofers.

We offer a monthly full-service program through Parasol to ensure peace of mind when it comes to all the client’s technology. This program includes 24/7 access to support to reduce any downtime.

Lighting and Shading Control

Refine Your Space with Purposeful Lighting & Shading Control

light can help you

Light Can Help You Offers Smart Home Lighting Design

Creating a beautiful home involves more than just selecting the right colors and furniture—lighting solutions are equally crucial. Effective lighting design showcases your favorite architectural features, helps colors pop on the wall, and can even make rooms look bigger. Just as important: the way it improves your day-to-day by boosting your mood and helping you succeed in important daily tasks. Hiring a professional to optimize your lighting design and control is a sure way to create a luxurious lifestyle and sophisticated residence in North and South Carolina.

Why hire a lighting designer?

Relying on electrical engineers or interior designers for lighting can turn this important aspect of your home design into an afterthought. That’s because it’s not their primary objective. You need someone whose primary job is getting the lighting just right in every room, for any occasion. That’s where a lighting designer from Fusion Audio + Video steps in: they take over through mastery of the technical, scientific and stylistic considerations. The result is a bespoke solution that uniquely fits the homeowners aesthetic and lifestyle needs.

Lighting Design That Maximizes Your Everyday

Imagine cooking in a kitchen where task lighting illuminates your workspace perfectly, or relaxing in a living room with ambient lighting that sets the ideal mood for unwinding after a long day. In your home office, adjustable lighting helps you stay focused and energized, while smart bedroom lighting transitions smoothly from bright morning light to a soothing evening glow. Each lighting solution is thoughtfully designed to enhance the activities that matter most in your life.

The Need for Layered Lighting

Avoid strained eyesight, noticeable shadows, and rigid spaces with layered lighting that adds depth and warmth. Use ambient, task, and accent lighting for a visually balanced and adaptable space.
  • Ambient Light

Soft lighting from natural sunlight, recessed ceiling lights, or pendants illuminates the entire room.
  • Task Lighting

Pendant, desk, or under-cabinet lights allow for focused illumination that elevates specific activities.
  • Accent Lighting

Showcase the beauty of artwork, photos, and architectural details with lighting three times brighter than ambient fixtures.
  • Daytime

A "Daytime" lighting scene activates at 9 am daily with bright white-blue ambient lights and desk lights for the best focus and concentration environment as you start your workday.

  • Bedtime

Prepare for restorative sleep with a "Bedtime" lighting scene activated from a bedside remote or tablet. The lights gradually dim and switch to a warm, orange hue, inviting you to relax and drift away in much-needed rest.

  • Entertaining

A "Party" lighting scene activates lights in the kitchen and living room to a white-blue hue, keeping guests energized throughout the night. Add landscape lighting to encourage guests to enjoy every area of your home, in and out.

  • Movie Night

A "Movie Night" lighting scene on your handheld remote or touchpad dims recessed lights and decorative sconces while turning on floor track lighting, creating an immersive and safe viewing experience in your home theater.

Architectural Fixtures

It takes the right roster or lighting fixtures to achieve a sophisticated layered lighting design. In fact, one of the biggest design issues in homes is an over-reliance on canned ceiling lighting. Instead, we recommend a mix of high-end pendants, downlights, and track lights. By strategically placing these you’ll ensure even, layered lighting that adds depth and beauty to your home while facilitating daily tasks.
  • Linear LED Lighting

    Flexible & Efficient

Enhance your home with modern, energy-efficient linear LED lighting. Ideal for highlighting architectural details or offering task lighting, linear LEDs combine style and function for a beautiful, practical, and eco-friendly space.
  • Linear Pendants

    Design-Forward Lighting

Integrate pendant lights in various colors and finishes to add a unique touch to your décor while enhancing ambient or task lighting needs. Elevate the luxury with fixtures that elegantly hang from the ceiling or within a track light system.
  • Downlights

    Illumination without Clutter

Primarily used for ambient lighting, downlights are also a great tool for task or accent lighting. Whether recessed or flush-mounted in the ceiling, they are available in round or square trims to perfectly suit your interior design.
  • Retrofit Downlights

    Remodel without Limitations

Seamlessly replace outdated fixtures with retrofit downlights that allow for low-profile designs without sacrificing quality. Choose from high-end tunable LED fixtures in round or square trims to add a spark to your lighting system.
  • Track lighting

    Bright, Versatile Spotlights

Discover a versatile solution for accent and task lighting. Install adjustable spotlights on a track or rail system and highlight your artwork or illuminate cabinets. You have straight, round, or curved track models to choose from.

Lighting Control

Embrace the true power of your lighting design with effortless control. Manage diverse fixtures with a centralized lighting control system that helps you maintain a uniform feel throughout your home for the best living environment at a button press.

Interfaces

Our cutting-edge lighting control systems are equipped with personalized interfaces available on dedicated touchpads or mobile apps. These easy-to-use graphic menus display the status of lights in each room and allow you to make adjustments with just a tap. Processor

The processor is the core of your lighting control system, providing seamless communication between your control devices and fixtures. The processors we work with guarantee clear, uninterrupted communication without lag. This means that as soon as you make a command—regardless of the source—you get an immediate and precise response. During the design stage, our lighting experts will determine what bandwidth and processing power you need and find the model that best meets your needs.

Dimming Panels

A hallmark of a professional lighting control system is its centralized control through dimmer panels. All dimming and control functions are managed by these remote panels which are installed discreetly in equipment rooms or utility closets. Dimmer panels help you reduce wall clutter and decrease wiring complexity. They also support advanced programming capabilities, and minimize the need for power boosters when managing fans and motors.

Smart Dimmers/Switches

Streamline your décor and reduce wall clutter with smart dimmers and switches that handle complex commands and scenes. These high-end keypads offer a sleek and convenient solution by replacing banks of traditional switches and dimmers. Enhance your convenience with keypads that provide instant access to scenes. Manage lights throughout the house and combine dimmer and switch control in a single unit. Choose from flush-mounted models that fit any aesthetic including finishes in matte, metal, or glass in a variety of colors.

Service Plans

Preferred Support Plans

The completion of your project is just the beginning of your experience with your system. Technology is ever-evolving, and we believe that outstanding service and support are the foundation of a world-class technology experience. Without a plan, support is provided based on availability during our regular business hours. If an issue is unable to be quickly resolved remotely, an on-site service call will be scheduled based on availability and billed at our standard rate. Our tiered support plans are built to address the priorities of your system, allowing for coverage in the ways that matter the most to you.
